Borneo is the only word that appears on two very different corners of our shelf. It sits on green-vein leaf powder from traditional botanical brands, and it sits on Kraken White Borneo, one of the few strain-named products in a range otherwise built around extracts, gummies and chewables. Green Borneo kratom is the green member of that regional family. Rather than a long history lesson, this guide works through five practical things a Green Borneo label tells you, and a few it leaves out.
1. The Island Is Real, and It Is Big
Borneo is the third-largest island in the world, split between Indonesia (the Kalimantan provinces), Malaysia and Brunei. The Indonesian side is widely described as a major source of kratom leaf, which is why “Borneo” is one of the most common regional names in the trade. That size is worth keeping in mind. An island that large covers many growers, rivers and drying setups, so “Borneo” narrows things down far less than it sounds like it should.
What the name does not do is certify where a particular batch was grown. Regional names on kratom are market conventions. If origin is the reason you are buying, look for a sourcing statement and a batch report. Our article on how leaf is grown, harvested and vetted explains what sits behind those documents.
2. “Green” Refers to the Vein and the Dry
The color word describes where the leaf falls in the vendor sorting system: green for the middle of the maturity range, between the younger white and the more mature red, dried in a way that keeps the green tone rather than darkening it. It is a shared convention, not a measurement. Our vein color guide lays out all four colors and where the edges blur.
3. Two Brands, Two Formats Each
Two makers supply our Green Borneo, and both sell it as leaf. Whole Herbs offers Green Borneo powder in 3.5 oz and 8 oz and Green Borneo capsules in 60, 120, 250 and 500 counts. OPMS Silver offers Green Borneo powder in 4 oz and 16 oz and Green Borneo capsules in 60, 120, 240 and 480 counts.
Same name on four products does not mean four identical leaves. Two brands mean two supply chains and two sets of batch paperwork, so compare the reports rather than assuming the label settles it. Powder versus capsule is only a packaging choice; our capsules vs powder comparison covers the practical differences.
4. It Has Close Relatives on the Same Shelf
Same island, different color: that is the relationship between Green Borneo and its siblings. White Borneo is the one Kraken makes, in the widest range of sizes we stock for any Borneo label: powder from 1 oz to 1 kg, and capsules in 60, 120 and 300 counts, such as the 120-count, 72 g pack. It shares the regional name with Green Borneo but sits at the white end of the vein system, and the reference report on the product page shows what the manufacturer has tested.
Red Borneo is the red-vein version of the same name; our Red Borneo guide covers it, including what to do when it is not in stock. Among the other greens, Green Malay carries a different regional name and Green Maeng Da is a trade name rather than a place. The Green Malay guide and Green Maeng Da guide explain each one.
5. It Is a Leaf Label, Not an Extract Label
Search for kratom extract vs powder and you will find the two treated as interchangeable versions of the same thing. They are labeled very differently, and that is the clearest way to tell them apart. A Green Borneo pouch or capsule bottle leads with the strain name, the vein color and the net weight, and it names the region. A liquid extract, shot or seltzer leads with milligrams of mitragynine (MIT) per unit, as on the Club 13 Big MG MIT liquid, 1 oz, 400 mg MIT, and it generally names no region at all. Both put their serving information on the pack.
Extraction concentrates alkaloids out of dried leaf, so the finished liquid is described by its measured content rather than by the vein and region of the leaf that went in. That is why none of the extracts, seltzers or chewables we carry is sold as Green Borneo. If you want a stated mg MIT figure, our extracts category and drinks category are where to compare them. Read every label’s own serving information; do not try to convert grams of leaf into milligrams of MIT.
What the Label Leaves Out
The batch or lot number is the most useful thing on the pack, because it ties a specific pouch to a specific test. Match it against the report on the product page or our lab results page, and use our COA guide to read what the lab checked. Beyond that, a Green Borneo label is silent on several things:
- The exact growing location.“Borneo” spans three countries.
- How the leaf was dried, step by step.“Green” points to a style, not a recipe.
- Freshness. That is up to storage once it reaches you; our storage guide covers keeping powder sealed, cool and dark.
- Whether you can legally buy it.Kratom is sold to adults 21 and over, and some states and cities restrict it. Check our legality page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Green Borneo the same as White Borneo with a different color?
They share a regional name and differ in vein color and drying style. The label is telling you they come from the same naming family, not that they are the same product.
Which Green Borneo should I pick, Whole Herbs or OPMS Silver?
That is a choice between brands, sizes and formats rather than between two different strains. Compare the pack sizes and the batch reports on each product page.
Does Jungle Standard sell Green Borneo as a liquid?
No. Our liquid kratom products are labeled by brand and mg MIT, not by strain. Green Borneo is sold as leaf powder or capsules.
Is Borneo kratom always grown on Borneo?
The name is a trade convention and does not guarantee origin. A sourcing statement and a batch report are the better evidence.
Where do I find every green we carry?
The green vein category lists them all. Stock changes, so the category page is always the current list.
